Centre philosophy

Parkside Grove’s philosophy

At Parkside Grove we embrace all aspects of the performing arts including singing, dancing, storytelling, visual arts, drama, media and music.

Confidence and creative expression

We believe in the magic of music and performing to support tamariki in building their self confidence, their social skills such as encouraging others and courtesy, their communication skills, their creativity and emotional expression and the understanding that their ideas and contributions are valued.

Whanaungatanga and manaakitanga

We have a strong emphasis on whanaungatanga and manaakitanga. We work together in partnership with our whānau to create a learning community and learning pathways that encompass tuakana teina, inclusion and connection to then progress learning.

We have regular events that create opportunities for collaborating and celebrating together.

Kaitiakitanga

Kaitiakitanga is seen and felt through both our Kākano and Pūhihi rooms. Our tamariki are encouraged to lead the way in their learning. We follow their interests promoting independence and participation and supporting their future learning endeavours.
